Should centering prayer be in a Catholic school?

I teacher at a Catholic school. As part of a faculty meeting, we listened to a lengthy presentation on centering prayer, with the assurance that the sacred word was “not a mantra”, that “It is not yoga”, and several other reassurances. From what I have read, I am not comfortable with this type of prayer. Am I wrong? Am I missing an opportunity to deepen my prayer life? I’m not sure; I just know it makes me uncomfortable. Thank you.
