Should children not receiving the Eucharist be blessed during the distribution?

A follow up to the below - at Mass, children make their way up with their parents (who don’t/can’t leave their infant alone.) The priest blesses each child. Should be discourage that? I undertand what you’ve answered to the previous question (which was about adults/those who’ve received First Communion but not taking the Eucharist that day, getting in line for a blessing…) but what about the children not yet of age?

Such an individual should simply remain in prayer in the pew. There is no option in the rubrics of the Mass for a blessing at that time. It should also be noted that a blessing is given to all present that the end of Mass.

Sacrosanctum Concilium #22: …Therefore no other person, not even a priest, may add, remove, or change anything in the liturgy on his own authority.

While its practical for children to accompany their parents in the communion procession, there is still nothing in the GIRM that mentions the option of imparting a blessing at that point of the liturgy. To do so, imho, would be to add/change the liturgy. The children receive the same blessing as everyone else present at the conclusion of the Mass.
