Do you think divorce should be illegal in the U.S.?
According to enrichment journal on the divorce rate in America:
The divorce rate in America for first marriage is 41%
The divorce rate in America for second marriage is 60%
The divorce rate in America for third marriage is 73%

No fault divorce should be abolished…in my humble opinion that has done more damage to American family life than same-sex marriage ever will.

I was going to bring this up. Even in the “good old days”, divorce was still permitted in cases of abuse, abandonment, imprisonment, etc. I think those options should be available. No-fault divorce on the other hand is a different creature.

No, I don’t think divorce should be illegally in the US, BUT!!!

I think we need to make a clear difference that marriage is and should be a Sacrament of the Church, and that “civil marriages” are just a civil arrangement. While “civil marriages” are treated as easy come easy go, we need to get back to knowing that a sacrament is for LIFE!!!

Just my 2 cents!

Sometimes, for the safety of one party, and perhaps for the safety of children, divorce is necessary and appropriate. And of course, annulment proceedings cannot begin without a decree of divorce.

Divorce is necessary sometimes and especially to obtain an annulement.

The post a few ahead of mine said it all, you can be married civil but its another type and kind of marriage if it is a sacrament between two people with a strong faith. There is a difference.
