Should I attend non-Catholic services instead of Mass when travelling?

I travel a lot taking the back roads visiting small towns. There are times that I would like to attend Sunday service at a non Catholic church in lieu of a Catholic church. Since I am still “Keeping Holy the Sabath” I feel that I am still obeying the teaching of Christ. This would give me a better understanding of the different religions and I think bring all religions closer to what Christ wanted. Is this permissable and would it be considered a sin in missing mass?
