Search your heart for the answer. Pray a little, and then choose which option you feel is right. I hope the Holy Spirit will guide you in your choice to tell me what my future is (which incidentally, is not solely based on this poll, lol, dont get worried :bounce: )

I don’t need to seach my heart…if you’re asking…it’s a good indication that He might be calling… :amen:

Well,

Being of the girl persuasion I’ll say “no” but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel called to spread God’s Good News!

Don’t pray a little about it, pray a lot!!! 😃 We need good priests after God’s own heart. I pray God’s desire for your vocation reaches full fruition.

Peace,
Elizabeth

Gall, I feel evil voting “no,” but that’s actually what came to mind. Not that it was a permanent no. It was more of a, “keep watching, waiting. Now is not the time or the place.” Something about a girl.

I voted yes, but only after you are certain you can devote your life to the Lord. Pray often and talk to your priest about it alot! Do your research, As a Knight of Columbus I strongly feel we need more great priest! If you do decide to be a priest know that your knights are there to support you! God Bless!

I hope you do have a vocation as a priest, we need many more folks to seriously consider it.

IF you feel you want to devote your life to God, and if you know you can keep this “lifetime” commitment, then you may have a real calling.

I suppose it is similar to making a commitment to get married. When a friend ask me if he should get married, I asked him why he was asking me.

He should already know what he wants. IF he is asking me to make the decision for him, then it is not right for him. He should known in his heart if it is the right move to make (this was after dating the girl for about a year or more, by then he should have known). Later on he met someone else and asked her to marry him after a few weeks (and he did not even consult me).

God will let you know what way to go, if He has not already.
Christ’s Peace, :blessyou:

I voteed yes, but the fact is that if your not in seminary yet you can only say should I consider the priesthood. If the seminary is good it is going to assist you in discerning the matter. You don’t decide before you enter seminary but rather during. I was listening to a priest the other day who said his spiritual director wouldn’t even address the question with him until he had been in college for 2 years. So if you feel you might have a calling my advice to you is just start going to seminary. Another component of this is that you present yourself to the Church as a candidate for the priesthood. It is not a right to be a priest or deacon and the Church must also discern mutually with you whether you have a calling and are an appropriate candidate. Prayer of course is key and you have mine.

Blessings

woops, well, i meant consider the priesthood!! Thanks for the replies guys.

Let me be the first to vote for what you meant. Yes, I pray for vocations to the priesthood. I will pray that you are both called, and chosen. If not, I hope you pray also for good priests, and the vocations that bless us with them.

I said no because I am a woman, I thought you were asking me, it is still no if you are asking for yourself, because if you get your guidance from an anonymous poll on a public internet forum, instead of from the Holy Spirit, you have a whole lot to learn about spiritual direction and discernment before you can pursue priesthood, or any vocation, my friend.

If you are considering it at all… please, please go talk to a priest about it.

The Church needs more priests and if you are being called it will be more rewarding to you than any other occupation you will ever find in your life. Do not say no to Jesus.

You must pray at this time. If you feel that you are being called, remember what Christ said and John Paul II repeated on many occasions: “BE NOT AFRAID!”

Please dont belittle me. You think i just woke up and said, " I know, lets decide my future through the internet!". I have ASKED many people, even my priest when talking said:

“When you go out in life and become… I dont know… say a priest etc…”. And it was completely off topic, i havent even talked to him about it. Also, the same priest looked at me and said “Andre, you look like our future pope”. How many signs do i have to get? So, i thought id ask people on a forum, whose response is completely random, and once again the answer is yes.

There is so much pressure on me from my parents to go to university instead of becoming a priest because " If you leave the priesthood you will have a qualification" Damn those qualifications, does not the bible say God makes fools of the wise men. And, i dont mind living in poverty or anything bad, because to suffer for Jesus is a blessing.

So confused. 😦

as I have no other information to go on except your initial (and unclear) posting and question, yes, that is exactly what I thought. My mind-reading ability has dissipated with age, sorry to say.

mind read? I just asked you to say a little prayer and then say yes or no, whatever comes to mind. “It aint hard” 👍

I voted no because I am a woman trying my best (with God’s grace and help) to hold firm to the church’s true teachings on the subject of ordination to the priesthood. Still, I pray frequently for an increase in vocations to the priesthood.:gopray:

My gut feeling would be to tell you yes, b/c you’re obviously considering it seriously enough to ask abt it here. However, I can’t even tell for myself, so don’t give too much weight to what I say. I’d feel like I was passing the buck by telling you to do something that I don’t even know if I should do.

I met some semanarians today and they looked very happy in their efforts to become priests. I think if my son told me he wanted to be a priest I would let him go with my blessing and my prayers. I encourage him now and he is 15, but I just wanted him to know I was open to it. I will pray for your parents to be open to it. I think family support is nice and probably very important.

I said my prayer and I feel that my answer is yes. If you go for it and change your mind your will still be a better person. If you study something else and ultimately don’t ever try you will always wonder. I will pray for you in this very important choice you have to make.

It bothers me that you are using an opinion poll of perfect strangers as one of your deciding factors.

Don’t get me wrong. We need new priests very badly. This is just doesn’t seem to be a wise way to make such a momentous decision.

Here is my advice, if it is your calling then you can think of it this way, I will dedicate the next 60 or so years of my life to God and then when 60 years have passed I will re-evaluate my life and see if I have been a faithful servant to God’s calling.

Why does it bother you? Every day, hundreds of very personal questions are discussed here involving the most intimate details of people’s lives.

This is pretty intimate, but I don’t see any problem with dude asking for opinions from strangers. Sometimes strangers will tell you a truth that friends have overlooked or you haven’t believed them because you know their biases.

So far I don’t know which way to vote yet. I wanted to hear other opinions and there are some good ones, but the friction overheated my widdle bwain because I’m really oversensitive.

Then again I think the whole world is my videogame sometimes. Therefore this thread is here for my entertainment. Therefore since I can’t answer your question directly, I answer it indirectly in such a way as to “virtually hijack” the thread.

I pray first that you feel absolutely no anxiety, and that you learn to take the criticisms of these people who have been kind enough to post without feeling you have to defend against it. If you are going to be religious, then you might learn about turning the other cheek.

Once we get that established, my dream is that somehow you will end up in a better frame of mind, and will be able to gain from the guidance and wisdom of these kind people.
