One character says: “bigger than beep Jesus”.
The beep is literal because it is autocensored.
Otherwise it is an ok game. Only that the mentioned character swears a lot. Should I buy it?
Would it be a mortal sin?

A mortal sin is such a hard thing to do. God loves his children quite a bit. It takes quite a lot of effort to flee from his arms!! Be at peace. Buy the game. God doesn’t care if we watch media with blasphemy. As long as you understand the context, you’ll be fine!!

God bless and don’t worry!! His everlasting love governs WAYYY more than you perceive.

Mortal sin is for the idiots. You’re one of the smart ones:thumbsup:

There are much better uses of your time and money.

This is something to discuss with your parents.

Ask someone that has been part of your church for a long time. We all have that one really wise old person that probably met Jesus himself.

If someone lived so long as to have seen Jesus 2,000 years ago, that would be quite a fete.Games are strange, but if you are not sure you want this game, buy something else. Save your money. You may find a diamond bracelet you like instead.

Incidentally, disregard the Tarot card game, the Ouija board game and the Charlie, Charlie challenge. I kind of like checkers myself. I always lost, so I guess I’m not good at it, but I like the game.

The game is not saying Jesus’ name with the reverence due to His holy name. To me, that is breaking the 2nd commandment. You are not taking God’s name in vain directly, but spending your money on it seems like a passive approval of them doing so. I personally wouldn’t buy the game.

God does care very much about blasphemy; and being smart does not in the least make us exempt from sin, mortal or venial.

What this sounds like is more vulgarity than blasphemy. Just the same if the swearing is a big part of the game it might be better to find a different game.

I wouldn’t say you were sinning by buying/playing the game; just that it may be an occasion of sin to you.

God does not care about a kid that utters his name in vain. He has much more important things to worry about.

I think the beep is replacing a bad word. Would that be blasphemy or vulgarity?

Is the omniscient God so limited that He can’t care about small things?
.
He cares about it but it is a non serious venial sin that can easily be forgiven. He cares much more about the sins of rape and murder.

I probably wouldn’t give my money to a company that developed a game saying “WE’RE BIGGER THAN BLEEPING JESUS!!!”, no.

Wow, do you have a direct line to God, by which He told you He has revoked the 2nd Commandment? It’s a good thing He let you know, after the saints have wasted hundreds of years writing about reverence for the Holy Name.

I never said anything like that? Your refuting arguments that I never even remotely made

You would have to give up more than the game - it has become Hollywoods favourite curse line - its even in star wars movie world where Jesus does not exist I shake my head everytime I hear it - how did this happen where its become a standard curse in the movies - no one around me or at work says it - a new generation to learn it in the movies. How many ppl here will say something when someone uses it as a curse word - I have asked others not to say it around me.

The last time I checked, God cares about sin and indeed is so worried about all of them that any one of them would have sufficed to initiate the entire cycle of salvation history, culminating in the death and Resurrection of Our Lord.
