So first off to start this, i’m going to make a long story short.

To begin I’ve been struggling with minor OCD since I was 7 just things where I’d have to touch stuff twice, then when I turned about 10 it stayed the same, one day when I was 11 I started developing HOCD because most likely my severe disliking of gay people, if any of you don’t know HOCD Is where you have intrusive thoughts about being gay, after a while it went away and 3 years later it came back badly, I started getting bad intrusive thoughts even when I knew I for sure wasn’t gay, they just kept coming in the back of my mind, it went away and I get intrusive thoughts when I’m stressed out or under circumstances in spurs.

So what I wanted to ask is do I need to Confess these OCD acts? I never thought I had to because it was Intrusive, but since I have this for comfort with these racing thoughts telling me I’m gay I would have to mentally do scenerios that disgusted me but i had to do them to comfort myself to prove to myself I wasn’t gay, i got these while masturbating «which I’ve almost stopped masturbating because it’s wrong I realized” and I kept having to picture on my own thoughts HOCD scenerios to check i
That I’m not gay and sometimes look at men to prove I’m not to make sure I don’t feel anything. I’ve never been attracted to males and I find it extremely disgusting, but this OCD made me think and act on horrible scenerios to check for myself, I never was attracted to the things i pictured, nor have I ever been attracted to the same sex. but I just wanted to ask if I should Confess doing this stuff because OCD basically blackmailed me Into it, but I get paranoid because I pictured scenerios non intrusively to make sure I wasn’t. Do I Confess it?

Sorry if this is bad wording etc. very tired.

You might consider mentioning it while you’re in there.

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with this- someone very close to me has OCD and intrusive thoughts are awful. You should confess masterbation and any time you purposely imagined a sexual scenario. It might be good to talk to your priest and tell him you are struggling with ocd anyway. Are you getting professional help for your ocd? That should hopefully help.

God understands that you cannot control your intrusive thoughts due to your mental illness and he will have mercy on you. Do not feel so guilty— God understands and loves you. Try to get better. We all have intrusive thoughts from time to time even if we don’t have OCD, it’s normal and you’re not a bad person. I’ve read on a therapists website that the intense fear of the thought is actually what increases it’s frequency to pop up in your brain. When they occur, try to remain calm, file those thoughts as unimportant spam mail and move on with your day. Stay busy throughout your day and exercise, try not to have an idle body or mind, else ocd will sneak up on you. Those tips are what help my friend with OCD.
