Should I cover crucifixes in Lent?

As a catholic should I cover the crucifixes in my home in the Lenten season?
 
I personally cover all crosses, pictures and statues with deep purple cloth, though this as @Trishie states is not a requirement.
 
The link seems to tie the veiling of crosses in church to the need to have them covered before they can be UNveiled in the liturgy. But that’s different from any practice at home. I can’t understand veiling a cross at home for the entire duration of Lent when that is the precise season when we are to specifically focus on the sufferings of Christ. Can someone help me understand the thinking behind such a practice, specifically at home? In addition to which is the fact that even in those churches that practice it, the ceiling is for a much shorter period than all of Lent.
 
The link does indeed apply to the churches as it isn’t the usual custom to cover crosses in private homes. There are several speculations as to where the custom actually arose in the churches.
 
I have never visited a Catholic home where the crucifixes were covered during Lent. It seems like a worthwhile tradition to try, especially in a home with young children. I can still remember, as a child, asking why the statues and crucifixes at church were covered in purple. It is an opportunity for catechesis.
