Hey All .
I been reading bible and read how apostles suffered and got persecuted for declaring their faith.
here is my story to explain my situation . I originally grow up in Jordan muslim family . I raised up in catholic school “dad choosed it cos was best school but i praise lord he made dad decide for a reason”. I moved to rome italy at young age and spend most of my life there.

Anyway though my family knew i never gave a **** about thier god Quran etc “sorry for my language have no better way to explain it”. I believe If i tell my family that am a catholic it will break my moms heart and I will be 99% outcast . Top that I will never be able to see them since it is muslim country and i have 75% chance to get killed cos of sharia laws thought i never been muslim or declared it.

So I decided to become catholic after a long path trying to find lord. Now am going through baptisim I start wondering about what should i do . following the apostles example I have to tell family and declare even if it will cost me my life .

I really want to share my faith . I do not want to lie even if it might cost me my family and life . Some Friends tell me just do not tell my family .

I am confused .I never feard death before being a reborn catholic , now i have less reasons to fear it . it is about losing my family forever. But I have dedicated my life and all to Jesus and want to do the right thing.

You don’t have to advertise that you have become Catholic, but you can’t deny Jesus in the future. I admire your courage. I think you should try to get to another country.

I am in us right now . I hate to lie and I remember when St; Peter denied Jesus 3 times… As I said It is not that I am afraid … but I might lose mom and dad forver and I still love them and pray for them. and for sure I cannot got to jordan to visit them unless i want to risk my head to be chopped

If you pray for your parents and conduct yourself the way a Catholic should your parents will convert sooner or later. It may take twenty years of prayer. Be patient and never stop praying for them. They’ll come around when they see that you conduct your life with love and kindness. Don’t lie. If they ask you about your faith tell them the truth and why you decided to become Catholic. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry. God will answer your prayers.

It breaks my heart thinking that my family might rot in hell for believing in that false prophet . let me be honest i would say i will be outcast and telling them I am catholic will be last time we talk. But it is my truth who I am and what I always sake, It will be a privilage for me to die in the same of Jesus christ . I would face anything if it is the price to feel lord grace. he saved me many time … and yes all i can is pray . but I know my dad is so devoted he wont change neither mom … but In lord there is always hope to change their heart

I would stay in Rome or at least in Europe. Don’t go back to an Islamic country, your life would be in great danger. There is no reason you have to tell your parents. I would not do so unless absolutely necessary. This will be much easier to do if you do not live with them. And if you are living in an Islamic quarter, see what you can do to find a more neutral area in which to live and work.

God Bless

Curious: what advice does your local priest have for you?

I’ll pray for you tonight during my adoration hour.

Follow Jesus as he is the Truth. Our souls were made to follow the Truth in doing so we will find eternal rest and happiness.

Sorry if I got some confused But I currently live in the United States. the thing is I believe the price is losing family and never seeing them and be their son again. It is hard to hide my faith . I mean like posting Verses of bible on facebook or my own blog. I do not want them to prevent me from spreading the lord word but I might lose them. was wondering what is right thing to do… I mean i do not them or not show my faith prevent me from spreading the word and my faith . but i know i will lose them for ever

Your safety is your number one concern. Take that into consideration in any decision you make.

Prayer must be a focal point in your life. Seek what is God’s will in your life. This is true for any big decision.

You need to talk to your pastor, but not just him. Seek advice from other in your situation. Talk to other Catholic leader who have helped other convert from your area. This is to serious for help on an anonymous internet forum. You are talking about decisions that could literally effect you life and death. There could be serious reprecussions for you family too.

Make sure that you stay activein your parish for emotional and spritiual support. Do not rely on other for these decisions though. This is serious and expert help.

God bless you.

Of course there will be sacrifices, our Lord warned us that our enemies will be those in our own family as well. And indeed it will be difficult. You will just have to decide what is more important to you. But you don’t have to spread the faith on Face Book. The best way is by setting the good example of a good Catholic life, living as Christ would live.

Wow, I love catholic schools just for this reason. I think in one way or another you need to prepare to be a martyr, like the saints. That’s just the right way to put it. I hope you are familiar with the saints.

Check out saints who were martyrs and their life stories here saints.sqpn.com/

Try to read a catholic saints encyclopedia.

Yes i remember in italy we have saints calender and each city has its own protector Saint. my saint is San Francesco Di Assisi,

Talking about catholic school it was missionary I remember fear respect and fear we have for nuns(teachers) . we were respecting them even if we are off school in streets doing something wrong. thanks to them I learned honestly forgiving and discipline. I still feel peace each time I Hear church ring bells ring “bad they do not allow them to be loud like in italy”. for me it is as good if not better than led Zeppelin , Pink Floyd and Hendrix 🙂

This is ridiculous. There is no guarantee that his parents will ever convert – no matter how hard he or anyone else prays. And statistically speaking, I’d say the chances are better that they won’t.

Don’t give people advice that you know isn’t true.

I know what I’m talking about. Been through it myself.

That’s great. But that’s what we call anecdotal evidence. The fact that you prayed for someone to convert and they did doesn’t mean that everyone who prays for conversions will get the same result. And it’s irresponsible to imply that it works that way.

The future is uncertain, maybe they will become Catholic maybe not. Think about what would be the best for your parents, not for you. Also you might approach this slow by hinting that you are Catholic now?

I did talk to them about it . they said i have not to tell them . but trust me they will know . I mean i put scriptures on my Facebook . I do want to pretend someone I am not. and to be honest sooner or later they will ask me. No way on earth I will deny Christ even if i have a knife around my neck,

I will go this Sunday and set with priest and ask him .

thank you
