…For the most part, unless your parent is telling you to do something objectively sinful (to lie, to steal, to sell your body), you are under the obligation to obey your parent. If you really cannot tell whether what they ask is objectively sinful, obey your parent as far as conscience allows and if possible consult a priest before doing what is asked, if not, consult the priest as soon afterward as possible.
I don’t know the age of the OP, but I see no moral obligation in an adult to obey the parent. Even minors (who are capable of doing so) need to be concerned about the issue of their own best interests. Parents are certainly okay with asking for help with running the home, but to use a minor for parental economic gain is another thing, and is not a legitimate part of the modern, developed economic world.
I’m talking here in general about the principle that was stated, not about the OP’s mother. It’s certainly okay, and even advisable, to do any favors for ones parents that are reasonable. I just see no obligation there.
