Should I go to a Baptist service?

My grandfather is turning 80 soon and my mother is coming to town to celibate. His birthday is on a Saturday and my mother asked me to go to church with them. BTW I converted over five years ago.
Anyways would it be OK for me to go with them as long as I still go to mass that Sunday?

If by going you signal to your family a latent willingness to leave the Church, then you should not go.

I don’t see why not, as long as you do NOT partake of their version of the Eucherist.

Don’t forget to make the Sign Of The Cross when opportunities occure

If it were me, I would go along and honour my grandfather and the invitation. I have quite often for one reason or another gone along to a non Catholic service. In fact one Easter, I was rather surprised and delighted in a Uniting Church to see a large picture of The Sacred Heart on a wall. We have doctrinal differences with other Christian Faiths but we all worship the same Lord and God…we differ in what we may believe about that same Lord and God - i.e. our religious concepts may differ. Attendance at a non Catholic service is a great opportunity to pray for unity - not that attendance at such a service is the only way. Frankly, I rather enjoy praying with people of other Christian Faiths.
Nowadays I dont think attendance at non Catholic services is viewed as in any way doubting one’s Catholicism…and if it were, I would not go either.
I did go along to a couple of services where the pastor knew I was Catholic…he began in a sermon to severely speak against Catholicism and the Papacy - so I just got up and walked out and I never returned.

yes, it is an act of charity toward your grandfather, and mother (whom I presume will be celebrating his birthday, not remaining single). you of course would not receive communion if it is offered and will also go to Mass that Sunday, or Saturday evening. don’t make the sign of the Cross if it would be seen as confrontational, and for heaven’s sake don’t genuflect (as I have done absent-mindedly).
