Since Jesus didn’t say anything specifically about this question, I’d stick with what the Jews do who go to a mikvah once a month, and go to confession once a month.
That’s your opinion.Yes a Priest on EWTN said one should not be chained tot he confessional, and yes it easily can lead to scruplosity.
Are sins, yes. What’s the point? The seven deadly sins, such as pride, envy, gluttony, lust, etc,
If often confession (every two weeks) “increases our resistance to temptation”
If you keep in shape by exercising frequently, will you stay healthy by exercising less and less?then hopefullly that every two weeks can turn into every 3 weeks or every 4 weeks.
Sounds like frequent Confession was helping the guy to resist new sins, to me. Awesome.I heard yes someone famous in the RC faith, due to he use to be Protestant, say on TV, he goes to confession every week or two, and he always confesses the same sin, over and over the same sin , and the Priest that was with him chuckled and said at least you don’t have a new sin!! Real funny, and this guy has been a RC for over 25 years, not like hes a newbie.
And more frequent Confession helps us become more sensitive to sins that we may not have noticed before, in the cloud of our greater ones. With that continuing grace, we can hone in on smaller imperfections that cause larger ones. I’ve already addressed that those already suffering from scrupulosity may need other instructions or whatnot, but the idea that Confession CAUSES scrupulosity, in my opinion, borders on heresy. It’s a Sacrament that Jesus himself put in place, and to say it can make people spiritually ill is, at best, an uneducated opinion. You should do some heavy reading on the lives of saints and of folks like Mother Theresa. We are to confess our sins and REPENT, turn. So if one is a stealer (clepto) from stores, everytime they confess, it should be longer in between, many can quit stealing just like that, but some can’t as it has become for them an illness.
It’s prolly a good thing that my spiritual life doesn’t revolve around your opinion, then.I don’t care if you go daily, if you want, but a good Priest in my opinion would have a talk with you.
The story of Mother Theresa depressed me, her darkness and unbelief. That’s your opinion.

Edit: And, for that matter, I just realized that you’ve implicitly stated that my regular confessor isn’t a “good priest.” Whether or not you did so on purpose, I don’t appreciate that. Not one bit.
Yes I would not want your spiritual life in my hands. I also said the Priests of a daily confessor (not that I said you were) should have a talk with is person, never said he was a bad Priest. I am sorry you took offense, but would you rather me say what I might think you might want to hear. That’s your opinion.

Then you missed the point of the story entirely. The story of Mother Theresa depressed me, her darkness and unbelief.
you said

This is purely your misguided opinion…the fact that you’d “wish for new sins” to replace the old tells me your theology is sorely, sorely lacking. Jesus fell multiple times while carrying the Cross, and knows that we will fall while carrying our crosses from time to time, too. Unlike you, apparently, Jesus does not count the amount of times that we fall, but how often we get back up to keep going.Awesome, this is a Christian for how many years and its awesome he is committing the same sin?? Man I’d rather have a new sin, at lest that would show some repentance and change in the person, but apparently this man is happy in this same sin.
No, we must do what God said is right to do. God Bless.anyway do as you feel is best for you. We are all different and thats a good thing, so we must do what we feel is right . God Bless.
Nope. You said, “A good Priest, in my opinion, would have a talk with you.” There’s only so many ways that statement can be construed. Possibly, it just didn’t cross your mind that I DO talk with my priest on a regular basis. He has more faith in me than you do, and frankly, that’s all that counts. Good day.Yes I would not want your spiritual life in my hands.
