Hi everyone. Should I go to confession? I’m pretty sure that I am not in a state of mortal sin. I’d like to perhaps go to confession just to be sure that my conscience is in the right place though. I guess I am afraid that I may have committed a mortal sin and have forgotten about it or something. I know that is unlikely since I just went to confession on Saturday but I guess I would sort of like to go to confession as a prevenative measure to make sure I’m not going to Hell. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah. Just go. The knowledge or suspicion of mortal sin is not a prerequisite. 🙂

It couldn’t hurt. Could you pray for me while you’re there? I’m in a sticky moral situation.

Well, I already went but I will pray for you now. I did not know you wanted prayer while I was there until just now. I’m sorry.

It never hurts to go to confession, mortal sin or not. A piece of advice from a priest back in the fifties when priests were generally pretty reliable. The good Father told me that when it comes to mortal sin there will be no question. If a person commits one for which they are culpable, they will know it. No wondering “if” about it. If there are acts or omissions in which one is not sure of the gravity or seriousness of the matter, one is obliged to seek clarification.
