Should I have received Communion?

I observed the one hour fast but during daily mass
a piece of food became dislodged from my teeth.
I worried that I should not go to Communion. I have
problems with being scrupulous so I decided that the
Lord would rather I trust in Him and receive Communion.
Was this okay?
