I have been considering joining Auxiliam Christianorum for sometime, but I’ve heard that people who join it should reach a certain stage of spirituality before joining, because Satan attacks such people. This morning I was hit pretty hard by Satan because I believe, I was starting my 33 Day Consecration to Mary. Originally I planned on considering joining after I made my 33 Day Consecration, but now I’m considering joining now, I know that joining won’t necessarily make things better, but it’s worth considering, and I’ve heard there are some benefits. So should I join? What are the benefits and consequences of joining?

Glory to God
and
Hail Mary!

I would encourage you to ignore satan altogether. Whatever he can do to you is simply God’s will anyway. Pray, adore God, grow closer to Jesus through Mary, and forget about all this business about being attacked or not attacked. Furthermore, if you like the prayers of the AC, then pray them. But don’t do so superstitiously. All the praying in the world, no matter what you say or whose prayers you recite, isn’t going to replace the need to simply trust in the Lord Jesus Christ in a spirit of love.

When Jesus died on the Cross He defeated satan for everyone, for His Church. We are the Body of His Church. Jesus is the Head of His Church.
Therefore we have the authority to say
begone satan in the name of Jesus.
And Pope Francis says
Dont dialogue with the devil. (Ignore its shite.)

Ps you can consecrate ( give yourself to the Wellbeing and care of the Blessed Virgin Mary) By a simple Prayer . It is not necessary to take 33 days to do this.

Jump on the website of the Marian Movement of Priests for simple prayers to this intention.

I have started a weekly St Ignatius Spiritual Exercises retreat with Jesuits. One of the first things the Priest leading it said was that the devil will try to derail our efforts. He gave us a list of things that might help us identify derailments.

And said, say a prayer, ask Jesus help, and move on.

Yes, you could join. Satan does indeed do what he can to ensure people don’t participate in this devotion. However, you can do so at any point during the year, which ends on one of the Marian devotional feast days. If you think you can join now, then do.

Remember, that if you felt the desire to participate in this devotion, it is more than likely because God called you first, to do this. Desire comes from Him! And love for His Blessed Mother comes from Him, too!

I can give a list of the benefits:
  • first, this devotion consecrates you to the Blessed Virgin in a particular way. This is a special undertaking. How wonderful and strengthening to be protected by Our Lady in a special way.
  • second, it forms you quicker than many other acts of gratitude to God. And draws you close to Jesus in a very short time, for obvious reasons.
  • third, it humbles the devotee. By going through Mary we are expressing our own lack of virtue. It is a very disciplined course, so be aware that it takes some doing, if you follow it strictly, by the book. There are websites that allow you to print out the info. and this makes it easier to carry out the necessary elements. Some simplify it but I think it worth doing it all. One sees faith-life as a responsibility and duty - we become Catholic militants! Good for growing in humility with special help from the first in the order of grace and humility, other than God Himself.
  • fourth, where Mary is, the Holy Spirit works His wonders.
  • fifth, it is a great defense against Satan. He hates this consecration. Because Our Lady is his undoing. To involve the Blessed Virgin in a unique way, into your life, especially via this consecration, is to be taken as a very good sign in our faith-life in Spiritual Warfare. Why, a sign? Because, as I said, if you are desiring to carry out this 33 day preparation and to complete the consecration, then it was God’s Will that you do (if you do, do it, at some point).

It would probably be a good idea to discuss joining up with AC with a good priest who knows you pretty well or with whom you can actually discuss this. Discussing it with us random strangers on the internet will not give you a good idea of what you should do.

My 2¢ is to focus on the TC and do that for a while before adding something else in. One thing at a time, right? But what do I know about you, your level of holiness, your circumstances, etc? Perhaps the best thing for *you *is to do both, and the best way to find out is to discuss it with a knowledgeable person face to face.

If you decide to join, the first few weeks will be rough after you start the prayers. I had three or four flat tires within the first two weeks! Satan throws a big fit. After that things calm down. Father Rippenger talks about this briefly during one of his homilies on sentrad.org.

If you email the AC they are very responsive to questions. Good folk.

My apologies; read your post wrong. I don’t know of the AC. My post referred entirely to the 33 day devotion.

If you have a longing for that ministry God may be calling you to it. As their website states, discuss it with a Priest or spiritual director.

I would not worry about the spiritual attack. Many spiritual people see spiritual opposition as a sign they are becoming a danger to the enemy and take comfort that their prayer is a threat.

I would just like to engage in some healthy skepticism.

For theological reasons, why do you suppose that God requires a few weeks time before answering the prayers that members of this group recite on a daily basis? Depending on how you look at it, that’s either a very short or a very long period of time to be petitioning God for something as great as an overflow of protection against the evil spirit. And why does He permit a few weeks of extra demonic attack? Even a form of attack that might be considered extraordinary? Why is that initial period of time so important, but not the potential months and months of daily recitation that follow? And why does God require and permit all of these things for these particular prayers—so much so that one should first consult a good Priest—but perhaps He doesn’t do that for things like going to weekly Adoration or Daily Mass or praying the Rosary every day? Why don’t people tell stories of having had several flat tires for the first weeks after beginning to receive Holy Communion every day?

Again, I’m looking at this with some healthy skepticism. I would appreciate your (name removed by moderator)ut.

By the way, I’d like to offer my own opinions, such as they are.

Folks who know about the AC are more than likely admirers of Fr. Ripperger. As such, they’ve probably heard a great deal of his information on the demonic, and may have even developed a predisposition to see the evil one in just about everything. Satan is, apparently, under every other rock, after all. Either this fact, or the fact that the AC warns potential members about spiritual attack, or else both of these facts together, result in confirmation bias. Folks expect something to occur, and they find it in the everyday world. After a couple of weeks, they don’t expect that attack any longer, and so they cease to find it. That, for my money, is a simpler explanation than the highly speculative theology that assuming other explanations might entail

Multiple flat tires is something obviously entirely different. That’s weird, but correlation does not equal causation, and we have to be careful of fallacious thinking like post hoc ergo propter hoc. God may have permitted that for any number of reasons that we can’t know about, and until those reasons can be definitively ruled out, we shouldn’t assume He’s simply permitting evil because we happened to be asking the Blessed Virgin to protect us against satan.

But the OP in this thread has communicated that he interprets events that absolutely have nothing to do with him as being orchestrated specifically for him because he wants to grow closer to Our Lady in consecration. That sort of attitude needs to be corrected, not encouraged. Especially if we’re talking about what is or is not occurring in the preternatural realm and whether demons are angry at us or not angry at us or attacking us or whatever else. One needs to have a rational, reasonable approach to this sort of thing, not one that is unbalanced or which claims things about the spirit world that are not revealed to us by the Church, and which may or may not be a consensus view amongst exorcists and demonologists. We also need to be careful about making folk heroes out of Priests, and treating everything they say as if it’s infallible truth about the demonic.

Hi. I can’t comment on the AC, but the Church has spoken about demonic influence and this is most certainly the case with many aspects of the faith, to which we try to draw closer - including Mass. How many people miss Mass, how many people don’t attend Confession, how many people keep putting off prayer until they stop praying…and yes, of course, if someone is to draw closer to God via His Holy Mother, than Satan is going to do something to try and upset that.

If you think that demonic interference is not all about then you need to know that there has been an increase in the number of exorcists trained, in recent years.

Look around the world and see the evil that is there!

You mentioned the word ‘rational’. This word is a dangerous word if people don’t use it in the right context. And especially when used int he context of the Catholic faith.

The discernment of spirits is a lot of the time what faith is about, not walking around without being aware. One doesn’t have to only be thinking of demons all the time to be aware. Those who are aware are a lot more likely to not grow complacent.

Demons are not so much angry at us, that it is, they simply find us disgusting and want us to go to Hell, at all costs.

One can do acts of love and this is important so that we are focusing on God and not on Satan, but still, have you never heard the saying, that the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was…no, not knitting jumpers for Christmas presents, but making people believe that he doesn’t exist.

Exorcists ought to be believed. There is always room that people can be wrong, even at a very high level, but I would imagine exorcists do know what they are talking about, because they are some of the best trained people in the world, and this training is something that comes after having realised that each one has a gift. A GIFT, from Christ. These gifts we are not meant to spurn. One ought to pray for more exorcists and people who have such sensitivity to the spiritual life. Otherwise, Satan does a whole load of Guerilla Warfare tactics and before you know it, the world is in crisis. Or do you think that the physical world is the only reality. Obviously, not.

I don’t personally know about this priest but the devil does upset people’s plans and this is no secret.

🙂

Hi Yehoiakhin,

I think doing anything that enhances our spiritual life can be good. 🙂

Ultimately, it’s up to you if you want to join. It sounds really honorable and good.

I would follow the outline and guideline of what it recommends if you decide to join, like talking to a priest or Spiritual Director.

It’s possible that Satan/evil can trouble us whenever we try and do good and increase our faith life.

Years ago, I volunteered for several years and made batches of cord Rosaries for Missionaries. I was under constant spiritual attack that whole time, while I was volunteering.

It was like a cloud of negativity appeared over my whole life that I felt like I was constantly battling, whenever I would especially work on those Rosaries. It was really unsettling. Once I stopped making the Rosaries, the activity stopped.
