I started the 54 day rosary 12 days ago…really praying for intentions…well, just last night I got an answer…that is contradictory to one of my intentions…now that I got a firm answer from something that is not supposed to happen…should I just quit the novena, or still pray with the intentions I think is wrong and isn’t going to happen, but try anyways cause I started praying anyways or just forget that intention and pray for others?

Thanks be to God!

Continue on with the 54 day Rosary Novena as this was your original intention. You have received your Gift, now you need to continue on with your petition so that Our Lady can receive your Gift of the Rosary Novena.

The Rosary Novena aids in the reparation for the sins of the world and for the conversion of sinners.

God Bless

Did it ever occur to you that your boyfriend is not meant for you? And that what happened is a blessing in disguise?

What do you think a novena is? To force and bend God’s will to suit your own?

We pray Novenas to give God our love and to honor Our Lady.
Our prayers are answered in a way that is best for us.
Often, the answer is “no” or “not now” or “that’s not right for you”.
Novenas and devotion are not magic wands. They are a conversation between you and God.
You asked a question, He answered. Ceasing the prayer would seem to “punish God” for favors not being granted.
Surely you don’t intend to do that, do you?

Pray the rosary devoutly. Whether fro a week or 54 days…what matters is the prayer.
The reflection. The peace, the love.

Draw close to God and His holy mother. All will be well, and God’s will (not necessarily ours) will be done.
Trust.
Pray unceasingly.
God loves you.

Your right. I will just keep praying the novena without that intention then.
Really strange though, I never knew things were going to end like THIS and so FAST. never expected it. but if its not meant to be, god DOES IT.
with the bf thing…I asked us to be together and he convert…that’s not a bad thing right…?..so I prayed for that, but I got a FAST NO yesterday…im not trying to force god, but I was kinda confused, b/c I thought novenas god answered, and not just stop a situation. but now I get it. a NO can be an answer…Thanks.

ps…so I guess that although I really prayed for the boy to believe in God and convert, its his free will and his saying no and god cant force that right.?

Yes, and you wouldn’t want it to. Every time you had an argument he’d throw that up in your face. People come to the Lord on their own…someday, all on his own, the Holy Spirit may move him to convert. You never know. Your prayers do matter.

Yes, keep praying for him even if you’ve broken up (although you might want to make your intention more general), and don’t forget to pray for yourself too. Maybe add a prayer for discernment, to find out God’s will and do it.

Like the Gospel says, If your son asks for a fish, what parent would give him a snake? If your son asks for an egg, what parent would give him a stone? And if even humans know how to give good things to their children, how much more does our heavenly Father know how to do it?

So yeah, maybe you’re not getting the specific fish or egg you asked for. But that’s because there’s something different that the Father is ready to give you, and it will be better food for you.

The answer you got… from whom did it come?

You intended to pray the ‘54 day Rosary’, who do you think would want you to stop?

? my original intention was for my bf to convert and come here…
BUT…last night he and I had a fight and it ended it for good, and now im seeing that Gods true intention for me was to end with this guy…?

that’s what im thinking…no?

Novenas aren’t magic formulas that work if you pray them on some schedule. Too many people say these things as if prayer X plus prayer Y is supposed to force God to accomplish Z. That’s basically superstition IMO.

A “discipline” is fine. But a “discipline” that is supposed to “make God do something” sound about like a “hunger strike” or something.

Yes, keep praying it! The prayer is an offering to God, not a spell to make Him do something. Persevere through the 27 days of thanksgiving–they were so helpful for me.

Peace,

blue

Just a thought - it may be difficult to continue to pray naming your petitions so perhaps you can pray “for my intentions for this Novena.” And I always tack on “Thy will be done.” Sometimes I struggled to mean that and receive the answer with trust and grace. I would even cry, anticipating the answer I didn’t want. I found when I truly gave things over to God I felt that a contrary answer to my prayer was a blessing.

IMHO, keep your novena.

But see, the thing is novena is not one way prayer, it’s a two way communication with God.
You can always pray for the same intention, but this time try to talk with HIM and His Mother.
Rather than concluding straight away that it is a no, try to ask is this really a no? If it is a no why? And try to meditate on the mysteries too.

Somehow, you will be given an insight of why it is a no, or if it’s just a temporary setback. It could be that Jesus and Mom think it’s best for you two to be apart for a while to grow. It also could mean They saw that you and your bf is not compatible at all. 🤷

Yes, I totally agree with you. I am also praying 54 days rosary novena from 1 Jan. And, on day 19 I suddenly got the answer of “not now”… is it what always happened ? and will the outcome change after finished the whole 54 days novena ?
God will give us something better and best for us if not what we asked for?

well…I wasn’t trying to “punish” God for not answering my prayer…really…it’s just that I was thinking of stopping, b/c God already has given me a no answer, so I thought that since I got an answer already, it would be pointless on my part, to keep asking for that intention that was granted right?..but, like some says…i am going to keep my original intentions ( including the no’s I got) and finish the 54 days…and honestly…although I already got the “no” answer…I feel in my heart to keep praying for the same intention…maybe it’s just not time yet…
  • The outcome could change…maybe like someone said its a temporary setback…Keep praying and finish and you will see…Peace…

Thanks for the reply on my thread also. So how is your situation right now? Have you tried to talk with him to rescue the relationship? maybe can change it…

Right, just keep praying until finished 54 days… I found after praying rosary every night, I got peace and comfort at least… God bless you also.

At least keep praying your novena for your friend’s conversion. God bless you.
