Our family is all Catholic. Recently, my parents moved next to a beautiful Episcopal church and my mother is curious to see what the inside looks like. She had asked me for permission to take my children (ages 5, 3, and 1) to one of the Episcopal services. I said “no” but she keeps asking and pleading with me about it. A thought has crossed my mind to make a deal with her, that I would allow her to do it if she promised me that she would still fulfill her Sunday obligation at Mass and that she would not participate in the communion that the Episcopal services might have.
So, my question is: Should I stick to my guns and not allow her to take my children to this service, or would it be okay to propose a deal with her? Finally, she doesn’t see any problem with going to Protestant services or receiving communion in those churches. Can you point me to some sources for me to give her which would explain this to her?
