Should I pray for my Moslem ancestors?

As all of my ancestors were Moslems does it make sense if I pray for them already dead?
Purgatory is just for believers.

Should I leave their souls alone?
 
Of course !!! We should pray for EVERYONE who is deceased and who has ever lived as we cannot know who is in purgatory and in need of our prayers

Here’s a prayer that you may like to say

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory especially all deceased members of catholic answers forums, and also for all deceased family, friends relatives, benefactors, acquaintances, ancestors and enemies of every catholic answers forums member, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen

when you pray it you are…

praying for the holy souls in purgatory

praying for fellow members of caf who have died

praying for all deceased family, friends, relatives, benefactors, aquaintances, ancestors and enemies of every caf member

Praying for the living ( you are praying for sinners in the world including those in your own home and own family)

Purgatory is for the saved. It is possible, through methods known only to God, that He may have considered your ancestors to have been baptized by implicit desire. As such, you should continue to pray for them, as only God knows who is in Purgatory, Heaven and Hell.
 
No one should judge. I know we tend to do so, but it’s wrong. We should pray for everyone irrespective of creed, colour or actions. You never know what a person prays when he/she dies.

“No Salvation Outside of the Church” is a bit more complicated than it sounds and has been re-formulated (without changing the actual doctrine) to be easier to understand. Here is a link to a good explanation.

The short answer is that we should pray for all who have passed on and hope in the salvation of all, knowing that God loves all and wants all, believer and non-believer alike, to be with Him. Indulgences, in particular, can help those in Purgatory tremendously.
 
You should still pray for them because there is the possibility that they are in Purgatory despite them not being Catholic. You might be the only one who will ever pray for them, so your prayers are important.
 
Oh yes do pray for them, I have never believed that Purgatory (or Heaven) is only for believers.

Purgatory exists whether one believes in it or not. Your Moslems ancestors who are there would be very grateful for your prayers.
 
God lives outside of Time. So yes, a prayer today, tomorrow, or next year can be applied to them
 
I prayed a few times but not sure If it is a waste of time.

With all those people living and need prayer I am not sure why I should spend time and pray for dead people and there is not one single bible verse supporting it

If I had a dream or some thing , some sort of sign I would

Instead of praying for the dead better to spend time on Bible :rolleyes:

From the Second Book of Machabees xii. 46 “It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.”

Praying for the living and the dead is a spiritual work of mercy. Those in purgatory are experiencing real suffering and helping them is no less “real”.
 
Hi Jafar,
I saw this thread a little late so I hope you see it. I think it not too late because God is not bound by time. He can use a prayer now just as if it was prayed before your relative died. He just retrieves it from the future. But the key is that you must pray in faith without doubting. Jesus can give someone a chance to believe on Him even after death. There is a window of time between death and burial when this can happen. I know its not in the Bible, but that is so that no one will presume.

Keep the faith my brother and guard your heart as scripture says. You will do well.

Our brothers and sisters in the Church Suffering need our prayers. There are so many suffering in Purgatory with nobody praying for them!
 
Recently I had a dream of my grand mother who is dead. She was in an island and there was a volcano . The land was shaking and she was trapped in a valley

I went down to help her come out and rescue her . She had many luggage with her

I told her grandma did I not save you last time ? Why are you here again?

Throw away all those heavy bags and let me carry you on my back and save you

I woke up…

I suppose I need to pray even if it is not long
