Should I put any weight on a premonition?

On Memorial Day, my husband and I, both novice sailors, went sailing in St. Michael’s. We were using a 17-foot wooden sailboat that my husband had spent the last 2 years building and we were still working out the bugs in it. This was our third time out. On the drive there, my husband said, “I feel very nervous, very uneasy about today and I’m not sure why.” All he could figure was perhaps he was nervous about going back to work.

We did go sailing, in wind that was too much for our experience, and we ended up capsizing in the middle of the bay, with the boat turning over and over and over. A terrifying experience. Thankfully, a young lady on shore had seen us struggling and when she saw us go over, she immediately called the police boat. We were probably in the water 20 minutes before being rescued. A jet ski towed the boat to shore where it sits, submerged and sinking deeper into the sand. We lost almost everything on board, including probably the boat itself.

We are both fine other than for bruises and scratches and being frightened out of our wits. My question is----did my husband’s uneasy feeling on our way over have anything to do with what happened? Was it a warning, perhaps from our guardian angels, to not do what we were planning to do? And in the future, if we ever feel like that, should we take it as a warning? How much weight should we put on feelings like that?

Hi,

You can be sure that I would! When one of the construction workers who walk on the beams of new buildings that loom in the skyline mentions to the boss that he doesn’t feel right about going up on a certain day, the boss doesn’t push it. There are times when we really need to listen to ourselves.
