I asked my pastor (assistant parish priest). He said immediately that our parish will not do an extraordinary form baptism. I raised that I could be baptized at the aid of the Tridentine Liturgy Committee, and he discussed this with the parish priest. They declined my request.
Their response was:
The Lord favours the sacrifice of obedience more than the reverence of liturgy, so I’ll listen to the priests and be baptized in the Ordinary Form at my parish. I can’t deny that I’m unhappy over this, but that’s what sacrifice is about. Jesus wasn’t excited to be crucified.
And thanks for all your kind suggestions. I think I’ll try to join the Tridentine Liturgy Committee after my baptism to pursue my passion for traditional Catholicism.
Their response was:
- This is the parish where I belong
- This parish is where I developed my faith
- I have many ties in this parish. The parishioners would be glad and grateful to see me baptized at the parish
Therefore it is reasonable for me to be baptized at this parish (and thus it has to be in Ordinary Form).
