Should I take Protestant communion before converting?

I am a Protestant who believes in the Catholic Church and her teachings. I haven’t yet converted because of my evangelical wife. When I’m at her/our non-denom church should I be taking communion if I don’t believe fully in what they do? Does it matter if I’m not Catholic?
