Should I tell the priests about the practising gays in the congregation?

I want to go to a church and have it feel like it’s a clean place with moral people. Everyone sins, yes, but homosexual sins are especially dirty. It’s in the book of Leviticus.
That is not what the Church says. Read the Catechism please. Perhaps you (as we all) should concentrate on the Mass and on Christ and on our own sins.

There are lots of sins, and ALL of the separate us from God. In fact, the sin that Jesus himself most spoke about was our treatment of others and not judging. Good luck finding a church without any sinners.

Another thing to think about: why during mass are you preoccupied with this pair of people? Did you see them actually receive communion, and if so, why were you watching them instead of focusing on Jesus in the sacrament?

Obviously, this is a tough situation for you. Maybe pray that God will help you see them as the people that He created them to be. Ask Him to remove judgement from your heart and make you more fully present during mass. Pray for them too while you’re at it, and pray that they will find grace in dealing with whatever struggle they may have. It’s hard to judge someone when you’re praying for them.

From Luke Chapter 6: Judging Others.*
37
x “Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.y
38
Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”z
39
And he told them a parable, “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit?a
40
No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher.b

Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?
42
How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.

. It feels like they are contaiminating the church.
Are you sinless? I think not!
I want to go to a church and have it feel like it’s a clean place with moral people. .
Good luck finding a church that has sinless people. You are never going to find it, by the way.
You should mind your own business and examine your own conscience. Stop gossiping about people that attend your church. Good grief.

remember the church is full of sinners… God loves us and God loves you.🙂

You know that behaviour that 2 people in love have, or love partners have. It was that kind of look they have for each other. UNMISTAKABLE!!!
Actually, that sort of thing is really, really, really quite mistakable. People make mistakes of that nature all the time. It’s really quite common. You don’t have any reason to believe these men are practicing homosexuals, so I don’t know what you could possibly tell the priest that he can’t see for himself. If the priest feels issues of effeminimity and possibly impure looks amongst the parishoners need to be addressed, I’m sure he’s got that covered without help.

Go ahead and confront them then. See how that works out for you.

You are judging them based on looks and appearances.

You know nothing about them and you should be happy they are in church and if they are acting against church teaching your WITNESS not your condemnation will be what changes their heart.

It is mortal sin to use birth control, but studies show 9 out of 10 in the communion line are using that.

It is mortal sin to cohabitate and be in adultery but a large number in line will have that too.

It is mortal sin to judge your neighbor unjustly and YOU are in the communion line.

This is an issue between the individuals and the priest not you.

Tough. That isn’t the way it works. You’re supposed to go to Church to be in the Real Presence of Christ, listen to the Word, and participate in the Eucharist, if you are properly disposed.

I would remind everyone that detraction, that is, the unnecessary revelation of a sin of which a person is guilty or reasonably guilty, is itself sinful.

In this case described, all the OP has is perceived “amorous” looks and effeminate behaviour. That, unfortunately, is NOT sufficient proof that these men are practicing homosexuals, and any “reporting” to the priest would then fall into the sin of calumny, which is a worse sin.

Catholics are not in the business of detraction. This is the teaching of the Church.

There is a practising gay couple in the congregation, one of the men is camp and effeminate and his partner is slightly younger, (looks nothing like him) I’ve seen them look at each other amorously, not in the normal way.

Should I tell the Priests about them? They shouldn’t be taking Communion if they are openly embracing mortal sin.
No, it is none of your business.

Besides, remember what the Magisterium directs us to do under virtue of obedience:
The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

A church is a hospital of sinners, of spiritual lepers in need of healing. All sin is dirty, because it is a buffet on Christ’s face. And as for your desire to be in a place with moral people, I will quote the Trappist monk Thomas Merton:
Do you think the way to sanctity is to lock yourself up with your prayers and your books and the meditations that please and interest your mind, to protect yourself with many walls against people you consider stupid? Do you imagine that you will discover God by winding yourself up in a cocoon of spiritual and aesthetic pleasures, instead of renouncing all your tastes and desires and ambitions and satisfactions for the love of Christ, Who will not even live within you if you cannot find Him in other men?

OP, at any rate, what is your intention? To get them out of your sight, to get them in trouble or to actually help them?

Good luck with that… As a matter of personal opinion I think people who abuse their spouse commit especially sinful acts but there are indeed people who attend mass who have that history. For the record there is no “hierarchy” of sin and you need to change your mindset of attending mass to be amount the ‘A-list’ crowd morally speaking. They are in fact on no higher ground than a majority of people.

I think you should look into joining and supporting the Westboro Baptist Church. Their vitriol and ignorance fits right in with your philosophy.

how would you like your personal life brought up to the priest? and as others stated Im sure he already knows and how do you know they are gay? have you seen them showing public displays of affection or frequenting gay establishments? So you dont really know

There’s a sign hanging in my parish that says, “The Church is not a museum for saints, it is a hospital for sinners.” Maybe you should reflect on that

Yes, and tell him about all the masturbators and birth control users too.
😉 Be sure and monitor the confessional to see who’s using it.
