It is a sad testament to the poor catechesis these days that this is even a subject of debate. In any case, it is IRRELEVANT to this thread on the Latin Mass.
Poor Cathesis? I learned the Baltimore Chatechism. I know the CCC and I’ve read much of Cannon Law.It is a sad testament to the poor catechesis these days that this is even a subject of debate. In any case, it is IRRELEVANT to this thread on the Latin Mass.
He’s a priest. And yeah, he’s pretty much an expert around here. Why are you citing Don Ruggero? Is he an official CAF expert?
I actually think belief in the Rosary is a requirement for Catholics. What I mean is you certainly have to believe in the intercession of the Saints. You have to believe in the Creed, the Pater Noster and the Ave Maria. So you can’t think there is something wrong with praying the Rosary. What I meant is , is belief in the Rosary a requirement for Catholics?
I am not trying to come off as if I don’t. I do the Rosary every day.
I just didn’t know if belief in it was a Dogma or just a private devotion.
LOL No. Throwing around Latin isn’t going to help you. I’m not freely asserting anything—although you are dismissing the difference between doctrine and private belief.Gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.
No, I’m saying Catholics are obliged to believe more than dogmas.
Bad example. The intercession of the saints IS doctrine.A Catholic, for example, cannot argue that Saint Agnes didn’t exist or wasn’t martyred. A Catholic need not pray to Saint Agnes, but a Catholic cannot argue that it is not efficacious to ask for her intercession.
But the rosary is NOT doctrine. They are NOT the same. And the Rosary is an intercessory prayer. The end.
