I used to hand out the excellent book "Marijuana ,time for a closer look " by Doctor Curits Janeczek…plus a comic book that went with it to my students.some of the chapter headings; Marijuana and the lungs,…and the brain, dope and driving, grass and reproduction, grass, genes and chromosomes, marijuana and immunity a great book that the establishment hates. I got it from Healthstar, columbus Ohio…po box 8426,Columbus Ohio 43201…I purchased and used this book back in 1981…after reading the above chapters one can see why I hated so much the Playboy mag.for running ads for years pleading for the legalization of marijuana…they pushed prostitution and adultery why not this garbage…kill the soul and body…
I wonder if this book refers to cannabis killing brain cells. This myth originated from a lab test done in the 70s where monkeys were suffocated with smoke for 5 minutes straight and lost brain cells due to oxygen deprivation. That book is probably about as credible as the lab test.

I agree. That study was a bunch of lies and harsh treatment of animals. Here’s an article about when the study first came out.

(Hint, be sure to also read the 2nd paragraph of the “In Context” part)

And here’s the study that was done 20 years later which indicated differently.

I think research into the short term effects of smoking marijuana should be done. Decades ago it was believed that regular smoking of “pot” had the possibility of changing one’s genes, possibly resulting in birth defects in an offspring of a user.
And what of the effects while driving a car, or working at a job, particularly one involving machinery? One can consume alcohol in small amounts and it has little effect on one’s actions. Does smoking a small amount of pot for recreational use fall into that same category? As some have indicated, since civil authorities forbid growing or using it, one must abstain.
The fifth commandment forbids the use of substances that alter our perception of what we are doing, good vs. evil, right vs. wrong. If smoking marijuana does that, it is probably forbidden. Using it for medical reasons is an entirely different matter. A woman can use the “birth control” pill for a limited time to correct certain physical conditions that result in inability to conceive, or perhaps some other abnormality. Using the birth control pill is always wrong when it is used as a contraceptive.

Actually its used to create an appetite because of the nausea from the effect of the chemo - its the only drug know that can do this - so the person doesn’t loss weight from not eating allowing them to be stronger during treatment. All people in the terminal phase are on Morphine to treat the pain not Cannabis. The only effect Cannabis would have is it might allow your to take your mind off you condition and have some peace for a time and allow you to sleep.
Close friend had his leg crushed morphine alone was a waste of time as with the other pain killers the only thing that worked was a combo of mary j and the prescribed drugs.

imop the biggest thing against marijuana is the fact that it does make it easier for one to sin. makes one more open. but being open is not such a bad thing if one is in the right environment.

I don’t understand why disobeying a law but not actually harming anyone is a sin.

Is speeding a sin?
Is a wrong turn a sin?

There are some goofy old laws on the books that no one enforces… are breaking those sins?
