Should my child pretend to be a Sikh?

My daughter, age 9, came home today saying she had been asked by the teacher to write a letter for English in her U.K. school. In it she must pretend she is a Sikh writing to her parents after visiting a temple. Am I over reacting or should a Catholic child not be pretending she is a member of another religion?

Your daughter is being asked to write something from the point of view of another person; she is not being asked to become or to pretend to be a Sikh. I recommend that you explain to her that treat the letter as a fiction-writing assignment.
