Should our faith affect how we feel?

You’ve never seen me at Mass, have you? I can’t count the number of times I’ve found myself weeping profusely with joy.

But it really isn’t about subjective feelings of wonderment. Yeah, I have them and it’s great. But many times I have been deceived by my feelings, both the pleasant and the unpleasant ones. And I also know that God sometimes withdraws those feelings from me for my own spiritual benefit. So to use my subjective feelings as a measure of my spiritual well-being is a very poor strategy.
