Should people post more than once in a prayer request thread?

The problem is you get these really long prayer request threads that seem to keep going and going. And, it is easy to miss new prayer request threads because you have these ones coming up over and over again. And, with long copy and paste prayers throughout it. Isn’t it enough to let them know just once that you are praying for them? You can still pray for them as many times as you like without posting it again that you are praying. Why keep posting prayers into it when you have already said you were praying?
 
I think I did post twice in one prayer intentions thread. If memory serves, my second post was simply “Still praying…”

There should be an icon of an envelope with an arrow on threads where you have posted. If there is an arrow, you’ve posted a prayer so you can click on an other thread.

as a fellow prayer warrior, I share your frustration somewhat. Resurrection of older threads does move newer prayer requests off the first page sometimes. I just search for the newest ones with the fewest pages. I guess it is nice to keep praying so the person who started the prayer thread knows they are still being remembered.
 
I look at it in the same way as special
intentions I include in my daily prayers that aren’t
posted. I am offering up the prayers again and
it really isn’t for others to know that I am. It’s just
another of the many ways of praying.

Most of the time I unsubscribe if I notice that it keeps popping up, however it doesn’t really bother me too much. I use it as a reminder to offer up another Hail Mary for their intention.

I have one of those dollar store notebooks that I write the intentions in for my reference. Then I unsubscribe.

Perhaps there should be an entirely new section called “New Prayer Requests” where anyone posting a new prayer request can post. And, then once the thread gets so big it automatically gets moved to the section called “Prayer Intentions”.

I like this idea! I think it’s great that people pray so faithfully for the intentions of others (goodness knows, I’ve been the recipient of such thoughtfulness). But do worry though about the new requests that can get pushed to the 6th or 7th page and aren’t seen.

that’s a good idea Carl. I think there is a Suggestion Box. maybe you can post your idea there.

if you look under Concierge Desk on the home page the last one is Suggestion Box.
 
I didn’t notice how fast the new threads were moved off the page until I started watching. I think the prayer warrior concept is good but It does cause the newer posts to get buried very quickly. 😦

There is a way to set the display options to see most all of the newer posts.
Quick method 🙂

Method #1: From the Prayer Intentions Forum page:
  1. Click the Views header to sort the threads by # views. An arrow will appear next to Views.
  2. Click the arrow next to the Views header to switch the # views to lowest views first.
This will show the threads with the least number of views and likely the most recent posts.

To return to the original sort method, click the Last Post header.
Best method 👍

Method #2: From the Prayer Intentions Forum page:

Scroll the end of the first page to “Display Options”.
  1. Set “Sorted By” to (Thread Start Time).
    Leave the Sort Order to (Descending).
  2. Set “From The” to (Last Month).
  3. Click the “Show Threads Button”
Now you have all the newest Prayer Intentions Threads.

To return to the original sort method, click the Last Post header.​

The Administrators may want to consider making this the default setting for the Prayer Intentions Forum. 🤷
