Pro-life inconsistency?

An Illinois pro-life organization has rated candidates beginning like this:

1 = Fully pro-life
1# = Rape and incest exception
2 = Not in full support of all pro-life issuesIf 1 + # = 1 and not 2, this group is saying someone can hold rape and incest exceptions and be “fully pro-life.”

Do you think a pro-life organization can hold this position?

Or do you think it is inconsistent for a pro-life organization to condone the concept that how one is conceived determines one’s worth?

Have you heard CHOOSE LIFE: The Cindy & Jennifer Speltz Story?

are you saying a politician who was conceived through rape or incest has less human dignity and worth than one conceived within marriage? or are you saying a pro-life politician has more or less worth and human dignity than a pro-abort politician? your question is completely unclear and the links don’t help much.

Ditto.

I want to explain a few things since there may be some confusion on this thread. First of all, I am grateful the Illinois Citizens for Life puts out a voters guide letting us know the candidates position on abortion. I always print a copy of it and bring it in the ballot box with me. I will be using the voters guide in the elections later this month also.

When you go to the Illinois Citizens for Life website there is a rose. Next to the rose it reads “All Life Is Precious”. We know life begins at conception. Therefore all life whether it is conceived through marriage, out of marriage, rape or incest is precious.

Jill Stanek brings up a point about the voters guide. The voters guide places a symbol next to each of the politicians. Some of the symbols used are…

1 = Fully Pro-Life

**2 **= Not in Full Support of All Pro-Life Issues

**# **= Rape and Incest Exception

Those politicians who feel Abortion is fine only in the cases of rape & incest are noted as “1#” instead of “2#”. Why is this?

I think you are either Pro-Life or Pro-Abortion. Those politicians who claim they are so-called “Pro-Life” but are Pro-Abortion in cases of rape and incest are really Pro-Abortion. Since “ALL LIFE IS PRECIOUS” and “LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION” then those conceived through rape and incest are also human beings and precious!

Therefore I believe and I think the point Jill Stanek is making is any politicians who believe in the rape and incest exception should be noted by the symbol 2# and not 1#. The reason is these politicians deserve the “2” because they are not in support of all Pro-Life issues IN THE CASE OF RAPE & INCEST. These politicians also deserve the “#” because of course they believe in the rape and incest exception.

Those politicians who believe in the rape & incest exceptions SHOULD IN NO WAY BE CONSIDERED “FULLY PRO-LIFE” AND THEREFORE THE SYMBOL “1” SHOULD NOT BE USED NEXT TO THEIR NAME.

If you even look at the categories further I would be inclined to give politicians who are for abortion in the case of rape and incest the symbol “4 - Totally Opposed to Pro-Life Issues” period! What are your thoughts?

I agree, it doesn’t seem right. Mabe you should write to them about it? It could be that they just aren’t thinking about the implication that “rape and incest exceptions” and “fully pro-life” are the same thing?

BlindSheep,

I just sent Illinois Citizens for Life an email. I will let you know their response when I get it.

ICL’s current Voter’s Guide shows a bias/slant with the current symbols it uses for those politicians for abortion in the case of rape and incest. If ICL wants to be a reputable Pro-Life Organization then it needs to change its symbols for these politicians on its Voters Guide.

Otherwise the ICL needs to explain to me why one unborn baby is worthy of life and another can justifiable be murdered in the womb. If anyone else wants to send an email to the ICL their email address is …

AS tragic nad wrong as is incest and rape, they cannot be held as exceptions to abortion.

Thank you for the link to the election information! I will also bring it with me into the booth.
