Hi!
I searched for an answer but could not find a thread relating. I was born and raised Catholic. Baptized and Confirmed. Never really “left” the CHurch, but I went off and did what I wanted with no real intentions of coming back. Then, just when I thought I was content with my “lifestyle,” I became pregnant. Although the father was my “boyfriend” I never had any intentions of marrying him; in fact, I was ending the relationship when I found out I was pregnant. I tried to stick it out for the baby, but he ended up being violent and abusive, so I left.
Anyway, it took several churches, but I finally find a Catholic church who would baptize my daughter. So, both my child and I are in good standing with the Church. Before she was baptized I went to confession and reconciliation?
When she was a toddler, I tried dating and it just wasn’t working out well. I feel bad that my child is growing up without a father, but I’d really rather focus on raising her rather then dating. Does God want me to get married or is it OK if I stay single at this point? Does the Church think I should find someone to marry? I was kind of thinking maybe when she’s older. I just get a lot of pressure from everyone that think I should marry and frankly I don’t know if that’s what is best for my kid now. Also, I was thinking of putting her in Catholic School, but, will she be teased or harassed by the other students? In public school (she just started Kindergarden), it’s pretty much the norm.
Thanks so much for your thought and time.
