But I also want to stress that in the RCC there is no two-party system. None.
here is the Traditional party composed of those who like the Tridentine MAss, and there is the Conciliar party composed of those who like the New Mass.

I agree more-or-less with your first statement, that there is “the Traditional party composed of those who like the Tridentine Mass”; but not with your second statement about “the Conciliar party composed of those who like the New Mass” – I would say that you’re just lumping together everyone who isn’t in “the Traditional party”, thus making it sound like a two-party system.

In the same way, I could claim that the “two-party system” is comprised of, on the one hand those who want a dogmatic definition of Mary as Co-redemptrix, and on the other hand those who don’t want said definition.

There is the western Roman Catholic party which uses unleavened bread, allows profane musical instrumentation such as guitars in the liturgy, and allows women to hold Communion services, and says in their creed that the holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and from the Son and there is the Eastern Catholic party which uses leavened bread and says in their creed that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father. And this party allows only the human voice and no profane musical instrumentation and it does not allow women to hold Communion services or to serve as Eucharistic ministers. .

Hi all,

I think it’s pretty well-known that this forum, although it is officially intended for dialogue with other religions, actually contains a lot of intra-Christian dialogue as well. (Note: I’m more or less assuming that my readers agree that Christianity is one religion. I don’t mean any offense to Evangelicals, Fundamentalists, etc. who believe that Catholicism and Protestantism are two different religions.)

With that in mind, I’m curious how many people believe that CAF should crack-down on intra-Christian dialogue happening in this forum. And, if so, how? (I’m not suggesting that it would have to be by abolishing this forum – even though I think that makes a pretty good thread title. 😉 It could be done by less drastic means, e.g. CAF could simply warn everyone that any threads that are not related to dialogue with other religions will be closed.) Also, where should intra-Christian dialogue go instead of this forum?

Thanks in advance to all responders,
NO. It should not be abolished. It is a good place to discuss different faiths and help gain understanding, as long as it is done with charity and love.

Puzzling how so many people are unable to read what I wrote in the OP:

Well, if there would be a crackdown on intra-Christian dialogue in this particular forum, that implies creation of a new forum for intra-Christian dialogue, right?
Just a little observation … I don’t usually go to other CAF forums beside this one (NCRF), but today I spend a little time looking at the Eastern Catholicism Forum and the Apologetics Forum, and I noticed a number of posts made by Protestant and Orthodox posters. (I’m not saying that answers your question entirely, but I do think it’s relevant to the question of needing a new forum of intra-Christian dialogue.)

Hi Peter,

I am an infrequent evangelical poster. IMO, it would make more sense to open an “Intra-Christian Forum” on the board, than to dispense with this one.

However, seems some come here with an axe to grind, instead of actually comparing and contrasting their beliefs. Maybe they could create a forum that would entice the “fighters” out of this forum… Just a thought.

Respectfully,

Mudcat
