Should the Pope "apologize"?

I’m wondering–what is the ratio of extremist muslims compared to peaceful muslims? The peaceful ones do not seem to condemn the actions of the violent ones. Are they afraid they will be killed?

One can in fact tell the truth in a manner that is seen as hurtful. As Christians we should be especially cognizant of this and ready to make ammends where misunderstandings do occur.

On the other hand–Muslims generally, and Islamic clerics particularly seem far too ready to find cause to take offense. One suspects their motive is not so much that they honestly misapprehended the Pope’s intention, but that by wearing their feelings on their sleeve and throwing around their weight at the merest perceived slight–they can intimidate and bully a Western Christianity already not prepared to stand up boldly against the forcible spread of Islam.

The difference between an extreme muslim and a moderate muslim is that the extreme muslim is actually following the teaching of the Koran…which says that it is the duty of all muslims to make war on the non-believers.
 
I would say the “no’s” have it. And he did not apologize for what he said, but for the barbarity of how the Muslims answered him. God bless Pope Benedict.

Sorry is not enough, we demand an apology from him! Such words should have not said by a person like him. He should have learnt more about Islam before he said something about Islam. Islam is religion of peace and tolerance. Pope really does not understand it better than other smartass christians about Islam!

Well… I just quoted some slogans they brought during their protests that I saw everyday on my local television. Other news is bunches of muslims visiting catholic church asked whats the position of local churches concerning Pope’s statement. Finally you can guess that the catholics and priest stated that they do not agree with the Pope’s statement and acknowledge that Islam is religion of tolerance…

Nice isnt it?

The Pope has apologized pubicly three time for offending anyone.

The Pope isn’t the problem. The problem is that extreme fundamentalist Muslims are incapable of living on the same planet as the rest of us.
 
Some Muslim leaders spoke against the anti-Christian, anti-West jihad but they were the lone voices in the wilderness. The loudest Islamic voices continued to throw the proverbial gas on the fire they sparked.
 
The fact that the pope thinks that islam is a great religion is just plain funny. He should speak the truth that Islam is an evil religion because it leads people away from Jesus Christ.

i personally don’t like to play with the bees :mad: the Pope is responsible for the safety of millions of Christians living in Muslim-majority Dar al-Islam.
 
That in itself shows the Pope was right. Why should Christians be afraid? They shouldn’t! The Pope should not have to curtail what he says just because someone doesn’t like it. Muslims need to STOP persecuting Christians, blaming others for their own problems, and finally face up to the real issue ie. their violence. Maybe we need to adjust our immigration policies if they continue to persecute Christians or to really take seriously their human rights violations. It’s time to stop playing their game. Time for them to grow up.
 
It’s gotten to the point there’s not enough room on this planet for the Muslims and the rest of mankind. It’s terrible to think that we can’t speak the truth, much less our own opinions, without fearing that one of them will kill us. :mad:
