Should we be so aware of race?

What all people have in common is that we’re all human beings. If we’re going to focus on race, let’s focus on the human race.

I was deeply offended when a job application I was filling out asked what race the applicant was. That’s technically illegal, but it asked, anyway. I filled in “human being”. Didn’t get the job, and at that point, didn’t want it.
