I have been reading recently that many of our traditions as Catholics and as Christians have pagan roots. One I read about is Easter Sunday, and how the very name is pagan. The source said that Easter Sunday came from worshipping the goddess Isis, and that celebrating her was called ishtar. Also, the symbols of Isis are bunnies and eggs (!!!). The sourse said that when they worshipped Isis, they did so in a sunrise service. The source said the very word Christ+mass is also pagan, and all pagan gods were born on December 25. The source says that in the Old Testament, God told his people not to mix paganism with worshipping Him, and that He even warns agains worshipping the ever green tree. I am confused. I understand this source may not have all the facts right, but I have heard before that some of our holidays (such as Halloween) is very pagan. Should Catholics be celebrating these holidays?
