I would highly recommend “Spirit of the Liturgy” as well. The statement of full and active participation was not something new, but a simly a restating of a previously held idea in the Church. Like what was already said, people were praying rosaries instead of actually participating. Vatican II was not this world/Chuch changing document that people believe it is. Most of what it said only repeated what the Church already taught. We’ve gone far astray from what Vatican II actually intended with the liturgy, but luckily Pope Benedict is trying to pull the Church back to where it should be (especially through his Motu Proprio which he says is an effort to bring the two forms of the Mass closer together).
