Should we only attend Saturday vigil masses when we cannot make mass on Sunday?

I am free on Sundays and could go to mass then, but I prefer the anticipated mass on Saturday and usually attend that one to fulfill the Sunday mass obligation. However, I heard Catholics are not supposed to attend Saturday anticipated masses unless we cannot attend mass on Sunday for some reason. Is this true? Thanks!

No, that’s not true. Initially when the Saturday evening Mass was introduced that was a popular line of thought, however over time the Church has clarified that anyone is free to attend the Saturday evening Mass. Though we should remember that even though Saturday evening Mass fulfills our Mass obligation for Sunday, we still have an obligation to try and keep Sunday holy as the Lord’s day.
