Should we pray for a suicide victim?

Our 18 year old godson recently committed suicide. In our nightly prayers, my husband has stopped praying for him. I know that murder of oneself is a sin, but what are our duties as Christians to pray for those who kill themselves? Should we continue to pray for him? And if so, how? Saying what?
