Should we respond with a hand gesture at Mass?

The priest extends his hands when giving the “peace”.
Should we extend our hands in response “… and also with you.”
 
Dear Bundi,

No, no, no! Not that I have strong feelings about this or anything. Actually, this is not a problem for me. But the rubrics do not call for the congregation to respond with any hand gestures. The faithful are to give a verbal response only.
