Should we support Susan G Komen?

rightactionforwomen.org/ is a new foundation started by Christina Applegate for the purpose of supporting women with breast cancer screening and treatment, with a focus on MRIs as a supplement to other screening methods.

I have sent them an email asking whether they support Planned Parenthood and/or embryonic stem cell research and, after two weeks, have not heard back from them. But it’s worth checking out. They are still in a startup mode right now, so the web site is a bit under construction. The email address is supposedly info@rightactionforwomen.org if anyone else wants to try contacting them.

I’m just stating a fact that planned parenthood has done many good things, and bad things, just like EVERY big business out there! Actually, I bet many places that the people on here have bought from certain businesses have done horrible things behind closed doors as well. Your point is only reassuring my point.

That does not make it acceptable. You are making excuses for an organization that murders millions of children every year. Doing “horrible things behind closed doors” is one thing (besides, what do you even mean by “horrible??”), but murdering millions is totally unacceptable and not to be excused under any circumstance.

Would it be ok if someone walked into a kindergarten room and mowed down all the children with an automatic weapon, but then went out and fed the poor afterward?

-prescribe the low dosage of the pill so that pregnancies occur and then people come in for abortions

You got it backwards. I am NOT trying to justify what they are doing wrong. I am simply stating that they are very good at educating people and have helped many people through the years. Planned parent hood is smart in a way by offering birth control. Catholics don’t believe in birth control, fine, thats your choice, but its not reality! People will ALWAYS continue to have sex, and PP knows that! So they offer birthcontrol. If you’re going to continue doing an act, you might as well be protected by it!

I don’t agree with abortion, and I already said that. All i did was state a fact that said that planned parent hood has educated and helped many people. I am not trying to justify any of their wrong doing’s. Is that too hard for you to understand or something?

Hey, I agree that being promiscious isn’t a good thing. Thats why I DON’T do it even when trying to be ‘pressured to’. However when I say teaching, they have taught about many sexual diseases, how to take care of yourself physically and properly sexually.

I agree, but also too, not sure if you noticed, but a large population of the younger generation are becoming atheists. They don’t care if they sleep around because they feel they have no punishment for it.

Exactly they have educated people on some very serious issues that everybody needs to know about and yes most birth control does work. Almost all of it. Not always no, but most of the time those people aren’t using it properly. So yea, i agree with ‘Animalgal’s’ post.

Actually it doesn’t work…it is all lies.

The statistics for “effectiveness” are not right. They do not take into account that 75% or more of the time, there is no ovulation, so there would be no pregnancy anyway. It’s getting credit for preventing pregnancy when it didnt’ do anything. Just because most women use birth control does not make it a good in any way. If you want to go that route, look at all the broken marriages, abortions, and the degrading of human dignity.

2nd, I do know women who have survived breast cancer and they would NEVER EVER give money to planned parenthood, and connected to that, komen. Our bishop sent out a note previously, and was reiterated this year that Catholics do not support that organization, but other breast cancer organizations.
