Well I had my concerns about Tony Blair.
Or we could pray in Christian charity for Mr. Blair’s further conversion and embrace of the truth. I thank God that I am allowed to continue to be a part of His Church, even though I am a horrible sinner. It is those prayers for continual conversion–both of my own and on the part of my friends and spiritual benefactors–that I am able to continually seek to grow in God’s grace. “Christ came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first.”How was Tony Blair let in the Church in the first place? One of the most pro-abortion, pro-birth control, pro-gay agenda, pro-separation of church and state, secularist promoters… Did he make a public repentance? NO! Did he come out and say to the British people and the world, “I have realized the errors of my ways while I was in office and before. I beg God’s mercy and that of the people of GB and I will spend the rest of my days working to undue the damage I’ve done. Abortion is a great moral evil, etc…” NO!
The truth is the Church in England, not be confused with the Church of England, is so desperate, they’ll take anyone who furthers their cause and then act like it’s a great thing. I’m sorry, Mr Blair is no feather in their cap and Basil Hume was certainly no saint!
That’s all well and good, but something is stinky about Mr Blair’s supposed conversion…Or we could pray in Christian charity for Mr. Blair’s further conversion and embrace of the truth. If you condemn an abortionist or someone supporting gay marriage or someone supporting contraception or someone attacking church teaching your judging them???Matthew 7:1-5
And when did I ever say that? What I’m trying to get across here is that charity demands that we do not attempt to judge the state of men’s souls–very easy to do with public figures–and rather look to their actions. I can sit here and list off Tony Blair’s offenses. I can say nothing about the man himself. I can only hope and pray that he comes to embrace the truth. Don’t get hysterical and read things that aren’t there. If you condemn an abortionist or someone supporting gay marriage or someone supporting contraception or someone attacking church teaching your judging them???
First things first. Any and all judgment as to the state of Mr. Blair’s soul should be postponed until he selects a proper tailor. Does anyone else agree that his just-woke-up-at-a-bus-stop look is wearing kind of thin. True charity demands that he lose his current rumpled-look-of-success and step up his fashion game, sooner rather than later. And when did I ever say that? That was part of his, “I’m one of the people, new Labour” shtick moves.First things first.
