Shouldn't the term "LGBT" be considered a discriminatory term?

There really isnt “Catholic marriage” or “civil marriage”, there is only marriage. You may not see the impact of it now, but wait until the future generations grow up with the thought that marriage can be anything. Only then will people see the full impact.

Also, teaching gay rights and gay lifestyles in public schools affects people and their families who are for real marriage.
Not if they keep their kids out of public school and teach them what they want them to value at home. Unless the belief system is so weak that it cannot withstand any outside threat.

It isn’t realistic for many families to home-school their children. I have admiration for those that do. Also realistic is that many children, however developed in their faith, face enormous strains from social pressure, espec ially on topics such as gay marriage.

Traditional Catholic marriages will not change in any way no matter what civil law does regarding same sex marriage. It hasn’t changed in any of the states where same sex marriage is already legal.
A mother recognizes she can not protect her child from all risks and dangers in life in the future, and that the child upon reaching adulthood would have exercise of free will for good or bad. Still, a good mother does not withdraw from laying guidelines and positive values early in the child’s life.

Even if your life does or will not include children depending on you and looking up to you, you came from a traditional family and grew up with guidance, based on your postings, did you not?

As a corollary, the Church is our spiritual mother who may not have enforcement powers that the government has over citizens, but she has sound and wise teachings on individual actions and modus vivendi that have value if extended to civil laws affecting family and societal relations.

Civil law and Catholic views can not be (that) disparate or antithetical to each other without profound impact to society. You seem to favor secular reasoning as a better basis for civil law than Catholic reasoning grounded on natural law and divine revelation. Do you not see which side is better for the future generation?

The result is that the Church will pick up the pieces in a couple generations.

I think you misunderstand Seeker

It is not just that. It is that the government has no right to force an immoral ideology on its citizens.
