Show me your Rosary beads!

I have a nice set I deliberately bring with me to church or that I use while at home. In the last year or so I’ve been praying the rosary a lot more frequently, taking advantage of whatever downtime I have while out and about, in which case those 10 beads I was born with come in handy. I’m not comfortable using conspicuous, ornate beads in public and I feel like using my hands silently at the checkout line in the grocery store is more in keeping with the command to pray without people noticing us. I recently bought a very small set of all black, wood beads without any metal (there isn’t even a corpus on the cross) and I think I might start carrying them in my pocket since they’re pretty inconspicuous.

I’ve assembled it myself. The cross came from a keychain. It has been my loyal companion in times of pain and sorrow, as well as happiness. Can’t go out without it.

That’s the one fault of RR- they can be pretty hefty and space-consuming

Well, if we are allowed more than one rosary…

This is my other most used rosary. It is from Our Lady of the Valley Monastery (they don’t sell rosaries anymore). This is the one I used most before I started crossing the Tiber. I still use it when I say rosaries at home.

I like that sort of thing though, so it’s all good! If you’re not into that though, that is definitely a down side.

I just like having them always on me, and if I’m in a suit or something they’re hard to fit in a pocket without a bulge is all

These are over 40 years old from my first communion. This is my every day…well usually 4x/week if I’m being honest as that meets the requirement for the confraternity and I’m prone to do other chaplets on my “off days”. Sometimes I’ll bring out my mom’s wooden one from Rome. My car has the ratty but precious to me rosary that she was given in hospice but I usually use my fingers there.

Even before I read your text, I was like, “Oh! That looks like my First Communion rosary!” (Early 80’s)

The crosses are different, but yay, rosary twins! 😛 (Although mine’s in the to-be-mended drawer…)

That reminds me of my most unusual rosary. All the beads are little skulls!

I was thinking of making an all skull rosary, but I thought some might find it too morbid (self included).

That is a beautiful one. It makes me want to make one even more now! 🤔

I got my first rosary free from Dynamic Catholic and have had it for almost three years now (I don’t have a picture of mine right now). It’s wood and cord, just the way I like it.

I also got a red rosary with a Holy Spirit medal that my grandmother got blessed by Pope John Paul II during a general audience. They’re both very special to me. At first I tried to reserve it for the Divine Mercy chaplet but have upgraded it to regular use within the past week.

Both are fairly old, don’t know much about them.

I’m in the category of thinking it’s morbid. Give me regular beads!
