Has anyone been watching The Voice?’

I am not usually a fan of competitions in the music domain but my wife really likes the show so I agreed to give it a try.

There have been some excellent vocalists. I am really surprised the singer Sisaundra Lewis was eliminated. The woman has incredible talent. Very soulful and incredible dynamics.

Any thoughts/opinions?

I don’t watch show like that anymore. The x-factor, ? Got talent, pop idol I just got tired of them all

I started watching the Voice about 3 years ago, and since it’s only on in the spring, I look forward to it now. I think this year they have had a lot more talent than usual. I was also absolutely startled when they eliminated Sisaundra Lewis. What a vocalist she is!! Quite a range, and an outstandingly talented voice. I’m glad that Jake was retained, but since he’s not slender and great-looking, I doubt he’ll make it through to the end. Voters seem to go for the looks or the “pop” or “jazzy” style, rather than vocal talent. I am surprised that that girl (Christie?? – the one with the crew cut) is still there. Good voice, but nothing compared with Sisaundra! I also like that young man with the hat! He’s a good vocalist, seems to be a quiet, dedicated sort of person. I was surprised that Audra was also eliminated – quite a vocalist in country music style, but able to sing almost anything.

It’s one of the very few shows I watch on tv. Usually I have the “Weather Channel” on with the “mute” on, just for the light and motion, which makes the house feel a bit less empty. I understand they’ll have two new judges next year – rather hope that the Latin blonde is gone – don’t care for her music – more screaming and few clothes seem to be her talent!

I don’t watch TV much simply because I lack the time to do so, given my involvement with other activities. However, I have seen a few episodes here and there over the years, and IMHO this is one of the better of the talent shows. American Idol seems more “package-oriented,” which may place, say, looks and youth over actual singing ability. The Voice seems to actually place emphasis on talent, and it’s worth watching if you in to that type of show.
