In response to BusterMartin,

the books are:

on the right, the 1-volume “Christian Prayer” breviary for the Roman Rite, and underneath it is the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament.

On the left is the complete Bible, Revised Standard Version Second Catholic Edition (it’s in a zipper case).

By the way, to upload a photo, go to the little paper clip on the menu above the text box, and click on it to upload files (such as pictures). Then, you have the option of including one of these files in a post you submit.

I turned an old computer desk into my prayer desk. I can sit or kneel, read my bibles, pray the rosary, and spend time alone with the Lord.

God Bless!

I finally have a pic of my icon corner! Since there is still at least some interest in this thread, I’ll post it here. I welcome any thoughts or questions you may have.
Do you mind if I ask you where you got the Icon of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta? She is my wife’s patroness and I would love to get one for her if possible. The only one I have found to date is pretty cheesy in appearance.

Peace,

Nice idea for a desk - I can see how that would be helpful! 👍

Peace,
All of the icons I have were ones I mounted myself. I found the images online through a search (made sure as best I could that they weren’t for sale (so I wasn’t ripping anyone off)), did a high quality print from my pc, and then went through the mounting process. I don’t remember the specific URL, but I’m sure if you do an image search on Google or Bing you’d find it.

OK, thanks.

Well, that didn’t work. Let me try uploading the photos as attachements…
I must move, so this chapel, which I have had in my home for the past 17 years, must be dismantled. The icons, which, for the most part, are the work of Hieromonk Andrei (Erastov) are being donated to my home parish.

Icon key:

East Wall - Triangular icon above the analogion: The Hospitality of Abraham (the OT analogy for the Holy Trinity).

[not pictured, extreme left: an icon of St. John of Beverley]

The ‘iconostasis’ above the analogion [L-R]: Icon of Our Lady “Surety of Sinners”, the Holy Vernicle [aka: the Holy ‘Napkin’], St. John the Baptist, Prophet & King David, [not pictured, extreme right: St. James, the Brother of Our Lord]

West wall, top: The Resurrection
Bottom [L-R]: The Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple, the Crucifixion, the Annunciation.

On the beam in the center of the room:

on the side looking from the East: “Silence is the mystery of the age to come” (a reference to St. Isaac of Syria’s famous saying, “Words are silver, but silence is golden; words are the weapons of this age, but silence is the mystery of the age to come.”)

on the side looking from the West: “Let my prayer be set forth in Thy sight as incense, and let the lifting up of my hands be an evening sacrifice” [Ps. 140:2].

Truly extraordinary! I’m sure you will miss this in your home, but its good to here that you will be putting it to good use at your parish.

First of all the most important thing in football games when you get tried of playing quick matches all day is dinasty and hall of fame. Dinasty got better but it still has a long ways to go.

I have an icon corner of my own, though sadly I cannot upload a picture yet. I have the Theotokos of Kazan on the left, Christ Pantocrator on the right, St. Gregory the Great, St. Joseph and the conception of John the Forerunner on the left as well, and Sts. Anthony and Michael on the right. I have a latin crucifix in the center, and a Divine Mercy icon above that. It’s not really a corner- it’s more of a dresser top. Though the sand-filled pot with taper candles along with the regular candlesticks does make for a nice eastern look. Of course, I have my prayer cards, my rosary, my horologion, menaion, bible, eastern and western prayerbooks, and my breviary. I actually use both- though not at the same time of course. I sort of consider myself more of a hybrid Eastern/Western Catholic than anything else.

Your Icon corner sounds nice. :highprayer: The best Icon corner is the one that leads you to pray wholeheartedly. My Icon corner is completely Byzantine/Coptic with a Western Spanish (Christ bruised and bleeding) Crucifix. I also have a holy card of St Gemma Galgani with a 2nd class relic. If it helps you to pray and keeps your mind on Christ, who cares what whether it has Western and/or Eastern elements in it. 👍
