Yeah, I tuned out during that whole metaplot business. I don’t know why every starship captain has to end up having an epic role in saving Earth and all of humanity from catastrophe.
Yeah, you’d figure by now you could declare it as your major in Starfleet Academy Command School. (Temporal Physics 101. Topics include: Avoiding the “Butterfly effect”; learning to recognize possible “predestination paradoxes”; properly conjugating verbs with the most appropriate tense.)

Sort of like in the School of Engineering, where the first thing they teach you is how to solve any problem by firing the “particle of the week” through the main deflector array.

Or Starfleet Med School, where they teach you how to recognize what professions you aren’t, dammit.

Hee hee. I could go on a bit on this… 😃

Well, TV has always been my addiction. I won’t list all the shows individually. I will just say that I grew up in the late 80’s through the 90’s. I miss those shows. Most of them. However, many of them are shown in reruns. In fact, most shows I like are in reruns. Andy Griffith, Lucy, and Leave it to Beaver are included in that. I miss Gilligan’s Island, though. I also miss Dr. Quinn, but I have that on DVD so I can feed the habit. What else? Promised Land, Life Goes On, Small Wonder, all those old Nickelodian gameshows, Salute Your Shorts, Ren and Stimpy, JAG (still has reruns really early in the morning), and American Dreams. Also, Cheers. That was a good show. Then there is Lois and Clark, but I also have that on DVD. My other addictions that were cancelled but can be fed by my DVDs are Full House and Roswell. I wish American Dreams would release seasons 2 and 3, but there is about 1% hope that it will ever happen. I have season one. Oh, how could I forget Gilmore Girls? It’s in reruns, but I watch it on my DVD’s. I hate commercials.

I yearn for the good old Friday NBC lineup, with Cosby, Family Ties, Cheers and Just the Ten of Us aired. I especially liked the last one with Bill Kirchenbauer and his “Lubbock girls”. Jamie Luner has gone on to star in some “B” Christian movies. I don’t even find most of today’s alleged comedies mildly amusing. They are so juvenile. 🤷 Rob

“Just the Ten of Us” was an ABC show that actually spun off from Growing Pains. The other shows weren’t Friday night shows; I am pretty sure they were always Thursday night shows. I am pretty sure of that, since my dad watched Cheers and that was a Thursday night staple for years.

I miss the old TGIF (ABC Friday night) lineup of good wholesome family shows. ABC doesn’t have ANY shows that are safe for families to watch. I am not a fan of Bob Saget (even though I LOVED Full House), so I don’t watch his new show and ABC has thrown “According to Jim” aside for “Dancing with the Stars”.

Shows I miss are mostly cartoons, like Looney Toons, but also Gilligan’s Island and I Love Lucy.

I dislike most modern television shows, because they all have executive meddling in them. Did you know that 90% of the sex and violence you see on TV is because of executive meddling?

I loved Brooklyn Bridge which was produced by the same person who did Family Ties, which I also loved.
All the shows that I really enjoyed have the same problem that real families do, meaning
that the children grow up and leave home and so there’s no family anymore beyond
extended ones.
I haven’t watched Brothers and Sisters but I think that starting off with adult children may
avoid this problem.

How about Nowhere Man?

Anyone remember that one? Lasted one season on the “UPN” network in 1995. GREAT show.

Peace,
Dante

Ahhh…TV…

Dead Like Me.
Newhart (I’m Larry, this is my brother Darryl, and my other brothhe Darryl).
Firefly.
Battlestar Galactica. (So say we all!)

Let me think of more later…

Thanks, Jediliz. I was doubting myself after I posted this. The one thing I remember is that when "Ten of Us" was canceled, I thought it was utter stupidity for the network to have put this show on the one night when most teens are OUT, not watching TV, Friday. I still wish there were shows you could watch and be comfortable around kids. Rob :)
