An associate pastor in our parish was wrongfully accused of sexual misconduct. Father voluntarily excused himself from duties in the parish for a period of time while an investigation ordered by the Archbishop was conducted. After the charges were dismissed Father was assigned to another parish depriving us of his presence and wonderful liturgies. I asked one of our deacons how to approach the pastor to at least invite Fr. on occasion to do a liturgy and did not receive a reply. Any suggestions? Our parish seems to thrive on dispensing “Peace and Justice” but not on our own presumably.

Assuming his faculties were not removed or suspended, the general propriety is that the pastor makes the invitation to another priest outside of his parish to serve (assuming the invited priest enjoys valid faculties).

He may not be at your parish any more, but just think, different people have the benefit of gaining from his ministry now.
