I’m disappointed to see the moderators stifling discussion regarding one of the most informative forums available on CAF.

I saw the poll get shut down in the concierge forum. I’m all for moderating and keeping things rolling, but censorship can also have negative effects.

I don’t see the value in so-called “Traditional Catholicism” debates if you will not allow the Orthodox discussion in the robust fashion that it was in the original forum. We’re more deferential to SSPX schismatics than the Orthodox? How is that OK?

There is much more to discuss on the Eastern Christianity topic, in my opinion.

What? No response?

Why is that? Hmm… shutting down the original forum did have a stifling effect!

I’m pretty much in agreement with what you wrote…

I’m of the opinion that the change is a good thing, since the forum rules have seemingly been pushed to the limits quite often by EO posters, who seemingly felt that they OWNED the forum.

Maybe the should have a sub-forum in the NCR forum…

I think tempers are flaring right now and the dust needs to settle before they make any more major decisions like adding forums. It is better to step back, see what happens, then modify as needed.

If you think there is a benefit to having an Ecumenical Dialogue, then go post on the threads in Non-Catholic Religions and Apologetics in a charitable and informative manner and prove it!

The way I see it, it is the best thing you can do right now.

I really didn’t like reading the forum the way it was, and really didn’t bother to read it. However, I do think it would be good to have a EC-Orthodox forum that those who choose to can do all the debating they want to. And just sometimes, people just like to argue for the sake of arguing. So for that it was a good place.

I’ll find the post, but even recently Bishop Fellay admitted that they were outside the Church.

What does excommunication mean for the SSPX? I think it’s a more serious division than that between the RCC and EO.

Catholics cannot receive in either church, unless under extreme circumstances.

The Pope never claimed that SSPX was not in schism.

Really? Where?
“I now come to the positive reason which motivated my decision to issue this Motu Proprio updating that of 1988. It is a matter of coming to an interior reconciliation in the heart of the Church.” - Letter of his Holiness Benedict XVI to the Bishops on the occasion of the publication of the apostolic letter “Motu Proprio Data” Summorum Pontificum on the use of the roman liturgy prior to the reform of 1970

I loved the old forum, for me it was the most interesting. Maybe it’s just me but lumping the Orthodox with the Protestants and other non-Catholics just seems wrong…

This forum has been ripe with such discussion today. 😛

Censorship? The thread is still there. Posting a poll in a “Suggestion Box” thread, however, is not considered a suggestion.

The reasons behind the new forum were explained in the sticky. Neither the Mods nor the Admins had the time or desire to referee the continual fights.
