Siblings of Jesus?

Well there are several reasons to suggest that the Lord did not have brothers. Saying that it would result in competetion among his brothers is a new one. I do not think having additional children means you love the other ones less.

We are required to love God (Jesus) more than we love anyone else, including family members.

But, parents are required to love all of their children equally.

So, if Mary had other children, did she sin by loving her children equally with Jesus, or did she sin by loving the other children less than she loved Him? She would have been in an impossible situation.

Before we even examine the logic of this let us examine your presupposition that we are commanded to love all children equally and to fail to do so is a sin.

A very in depth analysis of this very subject was printed in This Rock (volume 1, #1 of 1990). The magazine article covers a message board debate between Jack Kilmon, a Protestant, and Father Mateo. The two men debate a text titled The Brethren of the Lord which was authored by Karl Keating. It is a two part article, of which I have only read the first part. The second part is in the next issue. Also, a note at the bottom of the article indicates that Father Mateo is a pen name of a priest who teaches in the San Francisco Bay area.
