Hi everyone
Just an update: we kept talking, I noticed he kept asking me questions to trap me into answering in a way that would let him to say āsee! Catholic theology is wrong!ā
He accused me of misunderstanding what Jesus did for us on the cross, and then went on to tell me about Jesus paid for all of our sins and freely offers us salvation, and that we donāt have to āworkā to earn Godās favor. At that point i was getting really frustrated, because judging by his comments, it was clear that everything i said went in one ear and out the other. So i told him that Iām willing to talk about anything, but only when heās willing to listen and not just talk. I sent him a link to an article for him to read, and thatās where weāre at now. Did i take the right approach?
One thing that was sort of a red flag for me was that he said he was talking to one of his friends, and that theyād be willing to drive down to where i live to sit down and talk
that says to me that heās not interested in understanding Catholic beliefs, just in converting meā¦
