I had some one tell me at church just this past week, when I approached her to take her hand at the Sign of Peace,
“I thought you didn’t touch people”
???
“I thought you didn’t like to touch people because of germs or something”
My response: “It’s not that I don’t ‘touch people’, I just don’t see the need to move to hold hands with someone during the Our Father”… all this while she cringed away from me.
If it wasn’t so terribly sad, I’d laugh.
