The Church is the guardian of the Truth and can’t change to accommodate the mood of the people. Just like how bad laws are passed in reaction to the extreme, ill-advised reaction to the lowest common denominator is not the answer. With good catechesis and the patience of Job (as your good Priest seems to have done), we must trust that the Holy Spirit will do its work with the preponderance of the parish. This will ultimately thru peer pressure convert the hard of heart.

That’s a nice rose-coloured version that you present. I have been in this parish for 9 years and it’s the same pushy people running the parish like it’s their own personal hobby. We just keep getting new priests. We’ve had 4 priests in that time.

We’ve had four new priests in the last 4 years. You lucky!!

People who have not lived it do not understand.
When one is watching a parish being destroyed by those who will “only have it their way”, it is very disheartening.

I’ll pray for you lady! I always love your posts. My heart really goes out to you. I was there until I found my Very Holy parish run by a Priest sent from Heaven.
Maybe you’ll get one like him!

I worked in Hong Kong at the time of the SARS crisis.
Masses were suspended and all Catholics were given general absolution.
Masses did not restart until the crisis was over and of course then people had to go back to Confession.
